Chiropractic Adjustment
We can administer a variety of manual chiropractic adjustment techniques to normalize your joint mobility, spinal alignment and neurological function. In addition to manual techniques such as the Diversified or Thompson techniques, we also offer instrument-based Arthrostim treatment for maximum precision with minimal discomfort.
Leander Flexion Distraction Therapy
Our mechanical Leander flexion distraction and intersegmental traction tables allow us to administer safe degrees of mechanical traction force to the spinal column. This can greatly relieve disc problems and nerve impingement caused by injuries or chronic degenerative conditions.
Personalized Corrective Exercises
Dr. Gottschling has completed over 300 hours of post graduate training in exercise rehabilitation to prescribe specific exercises that help ensure that an injured body part regains full strength and mobility. We use in office, supervised functional exercises and intentionally “low tech” back exercise protocols that are specific to your condition, and once completed you can continue at home. We may also recommend a customized selection of unsupervised corrective exercises to help you maintain a more normal posture and spinal alignment, in which turn can help you avoid future injuries.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy serves as a useful complement to other forms of natural healing. We can prescribe electric muscle stimulation, traction, ultrasound, heat, cold and other forms of physiotherapy to help you rehabilitate a soft tissue injury or experience drug-free relief from chronic pain.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling involves the insertion of a thin filament needle to stimulate the healing process of soft tissues (muscle “trigger points”, fascia, tendons and ligaments, etc) resulting in pain relief and restoration of healthy physiology. It is not Acupuncture and has a very different intent, philosophy and protocol.
Research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, normalizes biochemical and electrical dysfunction of motor endplates, and facilitates an accelerated return to active rehabilitation. A variety of musculoskeletal conditions typically respond well to dry needling. Conditions include: Plantar Fasciitis, Acute/Chronic injuries, Headaches, Neck/Back pain, Tendinitis, Muscle Spasms, “Sciatica”, Hip/Knee pain, Muscle strains, “Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow”, Overuse injuries, etc.
Custom Foot Orthotics (arch supports)
The orthotics we use are custom made for the patient. These are designed not only to relieve foot complaints, but also to restore proper foot biomechanics. We use Sole Supports products that are custom calibrated to your weight, foot flexibility and activity level, something you don’t get with an inexpensive, off the shelf product. Common conditions that can be helped with orthotics and treatment include plantar fasciitis, bunions, flat feet, high arches, IT band friction syndrome, patellar tracking syndrome, shin splints, lower back pain, Achilles tendonitis, and foot pronation. Orthotics can greatly help runners by correcting over pronation and restoring proper foot propulsion and biomechanics. This translates into improved speed, power and balance for the runner.
Decompression traction
This type of spinal traction can be done on the neck or lower back for common complaints of sciatica, low back pain, neck pain, upper extremity pain/tingling, herniated/bulging/slipped discs, degenerative disc pain, facet syndromes and some spinal stenosis cases. Decompression therapy is a comprehensive program that is designed to rehabilitate, relieve or reduce pain, and promote healing in damaged tissues and spinal structures. Depending on your specific condition, electric muscle stimulation, ice therapy, ultrasound, and rehabilitation exercises may also be utilized. A back brace may also be used temporarily to improve core support. The traction portion of treatment typically lasts 20-30 minutes.
